Accept card payments on Shopify from India

Shopify Payments is not on Shopify’s list of supported countries for India. Indian gateways exist, but they are generally built for selling to shoppers inside India. If your customers are abroad, you need a way to accept international cards and get paid out to you.

The problem

Shopify builds your store, but it needs a payment provider to charge cards. In supported countries that is usually Shopify Payments. India is not on Shopify’s list of supported countries, so you have to connect something else.

The usual trouble is the same everywhere. A provider may not accept businesses from your country, may ask for documents you do not have, or may hold your money while it reviews your account.

Your options

  • A local payment gateway. Often the best choice if your shoppers live in India and pay in local currency. It is often not built for international cards.
  • A company in another country. Some sellers form a company abroad, for example a US LLC, to open a payment account there. It can work, but it costs money, takes time, and brings tax and compliance questions. Get advice from a qualified professional before you do it.
  • A payment platform in your own name. Whop lets you create your own account, accept cards, and withdraw using the methods it offers where you live. Whop decides who it can verify and approve.

CheckoutFlare is built for the third route. It does not replace your payment provider. It gives your Shopify store a fast, branded checkout that charges through your own Whop account.

How it works with CheckoutFlare

  1. Keep your Shopify store. Products, themes and apps stay where they are.
  2. Create a Whop account. Sign up at whop.com and finish its identity verification. Free to start.
  3. Create a CheckoutFlare app in your Shopify Dev Dashboard. You paste your keys into CheckoutFlare. The guide shows each step.
  4. Connect Whop with an API key. See Connect payments.
  5. Run the Readiness Check, place a test order, then go live. Paid orders appear in Shopify like any other order.

What you still need

  • A Shopify store (a regular plan is fine).
  • A Whop account that Whop has verified for India. Verification is between you and Whop, and CheckoutFlare cannot approve it for you.
  • A way to withdraw. Check the payout methods Whop offers for India in your own Whop account before you build.
  • Products you are allowed to sell, with clear shipping and refund policies.

You can create the Whop account and see how far verification goes before you pay anything to CheckoutFlare.

What to know if you sell from India

Your local currency is the Indian rupee (INR). Your shoppers’ payments will normally be in the currency you set in your store.

  • If you mainly sell inside India, a local gateway may already suit you. CheckoutFlare is aimed at stores that need a different route, for example stores selling to shoppers overseas.
  • Rules on foreign-currency income, exports of services or goods, and tax are specific to India. Ask a qualified local adviser.

What it costs

Free is for building and testing. Starter is $0/month plus 1% of each order, and your first $1,000 of sales per store are fee-free. Whop charges its own processing fees on top. Details are on the pricing page.

Not legal or tax advice. This page is general information. Banking, foreign-currency, tax and business-registration rules differ by country and change over time. Check with a qualified local professional.

Questions from sellers in India.

Do I need a US LLC to sell on Shopify from India?
Not to use CheckoutFlare. You sell as yourself or through your own business, and the money goes into your own Whop account. Whop has its own identity and verification requirements, and they decide who they can approve, so check them first. A US company is one route some sellers take for other payment providers, but it adds cost, paperwork and tax questions. Talk to a qualified adviser about what applies to you.
Is Shopify Payments available in India?
It is not on Shopify’s list of supported countries (checked November 2026). The list can change, so check Shopify’s own page for the latest.
How do I accept card payments on Shopify in India?
You keep your Shopify store and use a third-party route for payments. With CheckoutFlare, shoppers check out on a hosted checkout and pay through your own Whop account, and paid orders are written back into Shopify. You need a Whop account that Whop is able to verify and approve for your country.
What does CheckoutFlare cost?
Building and testing are free. Starter is $0 a month plus 1% of each order, and the first $1,000 of sales on each store are fee-free. Whop’s card processing fees are separate. See the pricing page.
Will my fulfilment apps still work?
Yes. When a shopper pays, CheckoutFlare creates a normal paid order in your Shopify store, so apps like DSers, AutoDS and CJ see it as usual.
