Before you take real payments, we scan your store the way a bank or payment company would. This protects you. Stores that look unfinished or risky are more likely to get payment holds or disputes.
The Store Readiness Check is an automatic scan of your public store. It gives a score from 0 to 100 and a fix list. No person reviews your store. To go live you need a score of 70 or more.
What you need before you start
- Shopify connected. See Connect Shopify.
- A store that visitors can open, with at least one active product.
What the check looks at
The scan opens your public store. It changes nothing. It takes about 10 seconds. Checks are grouped like this.
Your store is open
- The store loads normally (within 5 seconds).
- No password page. If your store is still password protected, turn it off in Shopify under Online Store, Preferences.
- The address uses HTTPS.
Policies shoppers expect
- Refund policy, shipping policy, privacy policy and terms of service. In Shopify, go to Settings, Policies and use Create from template. A very short policy gets only half credit.
Products
- You have products on the Online Store channel.
- No sample or placeholder products, like “Test product” or “Lorem”.
- Every product has a photo.
- No product is priced at $0.
Trust and safety
- No famous brand names in your products, unless you have permission.
- No restricted products. Some, like CBD, vapes and weapons, fail the check. Others, like supplements, knives and adult items, only give a warning.
- A contact page or email address that is easy to find.
- Your own domain, not only
.myshopify.com. This one is a warning, not a fail. - A realistic delivery promise. Promising 1 to 3 days when you ship from overseas is a warning.
Each check counts for a different number of points. Passing gives full points, a warning gives half, and a fail gives none.
Steps
Open the Store Readiness Check in your dashboard. It is also a step on the Start here page.
- Click Run the check. Wait about 10 seconds.
- Read your score and the lists. Open each red or yellow item to see what we found and how to fix it.
- Fix the problem in Shopify. Then click Run check again. You can run it as often as you like. It is free.
- Keep going until your score is 70 or more.
If Run the check is disabled, we do not have your store address yet. Connect Shopify or add it in General.
Scores and what they mean
- 85 or more: “Looking great”.
- 70 to 84: “Almost there”. You can go live, but fixing the few items lowers your risk.
- Under 70: You cannot go live yet. Fix the red items first.
Why 70?
The check cannot predict what Whop or a card issuer will decide. But the things it looks at, like clear policies, a way to contact you and honest product pages, are the same things that lead to holds and disputes when they are missing. A score of 70 or more is our minimum for going live.
We may still suspend a store that breaks our Acceptable Use rules, whatever its score. See our Terms.
If something goes wrong
- The check says it cannot open your store. Open your store address in a private browser window. If it does not load, fix that first.
- The check fails because of a password page. Turn off password protection in Shopify.
- Your products are flagged but you are sure they are fine. The scan uses keywords. If the score is still 70 or more, you can go live. Otherwise, fix what you can, or change the wording that triggers the flag.
- A policy page says it does not exist. Create it in Shopify, then run the check again. Make sure it is published and visible to shoppers.
