Plain numbers for the Free, Starter, Growth and Scale plans, how and when CheckoutFlare bills you each month, the fee-free first $1,000, extra stores, and how to switch your checkout on.

CheckoutFlare is built so you can start for $0 per month and pay only when you sell. This guide explains the plans, the fees, and how to go live.

Two different fees

When a shopper pays, two companies take a fee. Do not mix them up.

  1. Whop’s fee. Paid to Whop for processing the card. At the time of writing, Whop’s standard rate is 2.7% + $0.30 per card payment, plus 1.5% for international cards and 1% when currencies are converted. Whop can change these, so check Whop’s fees page. See Connect payments.
  2. CheckoutFlare’s fee. A small percentage of each sale, set by your plan.

CheckoutFlare’s fee is added up once a month and paid on our Whop checkout page. We never save or charge your card. Money from your shoppers goes straight into your own Whop balance. We never hold it.

How the monthly bill works

  • No card is saved. CheckoutFlare never stores your card and never charges it by itself. You pay on our Whop checkout page, which is a secure Whop payment page.
  • Starter is instant. Choosing Starter needs no payment.
  • Growth and Scale are a monthly subscription. You pay for it on our Whop checkout page. Whop renews it every month automatically. One subscription for your CheckoutFlare login covers its highest plan.
  • You can cancel any time from Settings, then Plan & billing. You keep the plan until the end of the month you paid for.
  • On the 1st of each month we add up last month’s usage fees and any extra stores into one monthly bill. You get an email, and a Pay button in your dashboard opens our Whop checkout page for that amount.
  • Small totals roll over. If the total is under $10, we do not ask you to pay it. It rolls over to the next month.
  • The usage fee is a percentage of each live payment, including shipping and accepted upsells. It is not refunded when you refund a shopper. Test orders are free.
  • If a bill goes unpaid for 14 days, your live CheckoutFlare checkout pauses. Shoppers use your normal Shopify checkout, so no sales are lost. Checkout turns back on once you pay.
  • Plan changes take effect immediately. Other stores on paid plans are covered by Scale’s included stores, or cost $15 per month each as extra stores. They are added to the monthly bill.

The plans

Plan Monthly price Fee on each sale Live payments
Free $0 None No. For building and testing
Starter $0 1% Yes
Growth $49 0.4% Yes
Scale $119 0.2% Yes
  • Free. Full checkout editor and templates, unlimited test orders, preview links and the Store Readiness Check. You cannot take live payments.
  • Starter. Live payments through your own Whop account, order bumps, post-purchase upsells, discount codes, shipping rules, a custom domain, pixels, a traffic split with automatic Shopify fallback, and two-way refund and tracking sync.
  • Growth. Everything in Starter, plus A/B tests and post-purchase surveys, abandoned checkout recovery with Klaviyo, no CheckoutFlare branding on your checkout, and priority chat support.
  • Scale. Everything in Growth, plus subscriptions, failed-payment recovery, 3 stores included, AI design assistant and MCP access, and an API with webhooks.

All plans are monthly. The feature list on the billing page is the final word, because we may add features over time.

How to choose

Growth costs more per month but takes a smaller percentage. Here is the arithmetic for a month with $5,000 in sales:

  • Starter: $0 + 1% of $5,000 = $50
  • Growth: $49 + 0.4% of $5,000 = $69

And with $20,000 in sales:

  • Starter: 1% of $20,000 = $200
  • Growth: $49 + 0.4% of $20,000 = $129

So Starter is cheaper for smaller stores, and Growth gets cheaper as sales grow. The plan list suggests Starter for stores selling up to about $8,000 a month, and Growth from there up to about $35,000. Use the slider What would it cost you? on the billing page. Move it to your monthly sales to see the real total.

Your first $1,000 is fee-free

Your first $1,000 of sales on each store has no CheckoutFlare usage fee. On the billing page, the Fee-free start bar shows how much is left. Whop’s fee still applies.

Extra stores

If you have several stores on Growth or Scale, your priciest store pays its plan price. Scale covers 2 more stores. Every other store on Growth or Scale costs $15 per month instead of its plan price. This is added to your monthly bill. Starter and Free are for one store each. Several stores can use the same Whop account.

Go live

When your setup is done, you switch your checkout on from the billing page.

  1. Go to Settings, then Plan & billing.
  2. Choose a plan. Click Switch to Starter (or another plan). Starter is $0 per month and starts at once. For Growth or Scale you pay for the subscription on our Whop checkout page.
  3. Look at the Go live card. It has a checklist: Connect your Shopify store, Connect your Whop account, Pass the Store Readiness Check (score of 70 or more), Design your checkout and Add shipping rates, plus a plan that takes payments (Starter or higher). Each item shows a tick when it is done, or a Finish link when it is not.
  4. When everything is ticked, click Go live.

Then place a test order. Shop in your own store as a customer, click Check out and go through the whole path.

Remember Safe start in Settings, then General. You can send only part of your shoppers to CheckoutFlare, such as 10%, while the rest use Shopify’s checkout. Keep Fall back to Shopify checkout if CheckoutFlare can’t open on.

Pause at any time

On the same card, click Pause checkout. Shoppers use Shopify’s own checkout until you click Go live again. Nothing else changes.

If something goes wrong

  • The Go live button is greyed out. An item on the checklist is not done. Click Finish next to it.
  • “Choose a plan that can take payments first”. You are on the Free plan. Switch to Starter or higher.
  • “Finish the remaining setup steps before going live”. The message names the steps. Fix them and try again.
  • A step is not done. Click Finish next to it. See Connect payments and Store Readiness Check.
  • A monthly bill is unpaid. Click Pay in Settings, then Plan & billing. It opens our Whop checkout page. If the bill is still unpaid 14 days later, your live checkout pauses and shoppers use your normal Shopify checkout. Nothing is lost, and checkout turns back on once you have paid.
  • You want to cancel. Cancel the subscription in Settings, then Plan & billing. You keep the plan until the end of the paid month. Fees you owe up to then are still on the next monthly bill.
  • The fees on an order look different from what you expected. Open the order. The Payment section shows the CheckoutFlare fee and what you keep before Whop’s own fees. Remember the first $1,000 is fee-free.
  • You are unsure which plan to choose. Start with Starter. You can switch later.

You are done with the setup path

Well done. You can now take payments, send events to your ad platforms, and handle refunds. If you get stuck on anything, the Help & guides page in your dashboard has all these guides. You can also email us from the Start here page.
