Setup path

Getting started with CheckoutFlare: your setup path from zero to first sale

The whole setup in order, with time estimates. Connect Shopify, connect payments, pass the Store Readiness Check, design your checkout, add shipping and go live.

CheckoutFlare gives your Shopify store a fast, branded, one-page checkout. Shoppers pay on that page. The payment goes into your own Whop account. Each paid order is then created back in your Shopify store, so your normal fulfilment apps keep working.

This guide shows the whole path in the order you should do it. Each step has its own guide with the exact buttons to click.

Why this order matters

Some steps depend on others. For example, we cannot scan your store until it is connected, and you cannot go live until your Whop account is connected. If you follow the order below, you will not get stuck on a locked button.

Building and testing is free. You only choose a plan when you are ready to take real payments.

What you need before you start

  • Shopify admin access. You must be able to create an app in your store. The store owner can always do this.
  • A Whop account. Use the one you already have, or sign up free at whop.com. You finish Whop’s own verification inside Whop, so it can pay you. CheckoutFlare never sees your ID or bank details.
  • A plan. You pick Starter (instant, $0) or higher when you go live. No card is saved with us. We add up our fees into one monthly bill.
  • A domain you control (optional). Something like checkout.yourstore.com. You can add it later.

The six setup steps

Open Start here in the left menu of your dashboard. It shows these six steps and saves your progress. The times below are the estimates shown in the dashboard. Your own time may be longer or shorter.

  1. Connect your Shopify store (about 5 minutes). You create a small private app in your own Shopify store and paste two keys into CheckoutFlare. Guide: Connect Shopify.
  2. Connect payments (Whop) (about 5 minutes). You create an API key in your own Whop account and paste it into CheckoutFlare. Guide: Connect payments.
  3. Pass the Store Readiness Check (about 5 minutes). We scan your public store and you fix anything red. You need a score of 70 or more. No person reviews it. Guide: Store Readiness Check.
  4. Design your checkout (about 10 minutes). Pick a template, add your logo and colours, then publish. Guide: Design your checkout.
  5. Add shipping rates (about 3 minutes). Tell us where you ship and what it costs. Guide: Shipping rates.
  6. Go live and place a test order (about 5 minutes). Choose a plan and switch your checkout on. Guide: Billing and plans.

That adds up to about 33 minutes of hands-on work. Some waiting may not be included. If you are new to Whop, its own verification is outside our control, so start it early.

Extra guides for after setup

These are not required to go live, but they help you sell and stay safe.

How the money flows

  1. A shopper clicks Check out in your store and lands on your CheckoutFlare checkout.
  2. They pay. Whop takes its card fee and puts the rest in your Whop balance.
  3. CheckoutFlare’s small usage fee is added up into one monthly bill that you pay on our Whop checkout page. It is not taken from the payment.
  4. A paid order appears in Shopify.

Whop, not CheckoutFlare, decides how fast you can withdraw money. It may also hold back part of a new account’s money for a while. See Connect payments for details.

A safe way to start

You do not have to switch every shopper at once. In Settings, then General, the Safe start card lets you send only some shoppers to CheckoutFlare. The rest keep using Shopify’s checkout. There is also a switch that sends shoppers back to Shopify’s checkout if ours cannot open. We recommend leaving it on.

If something goes wrong

  • A button is greyed out. Another step is not finished yet. The Start here page marks the step that needs attention with Fix this.
  • You are not sure what to do next. The step that is highlighted on Start here is the next one.
  • You want help. On Start here, the Book a free setup session button opens an email to our team. They reply as soon as they can.
  • Something looks wrong in Shopify or Whop. Those steps happen on their sites. Each guide tells you what to check.
